We are born into certain criteria, whether we come from working, middle or upper class backgrounds. Depending on our socio-economic backgrounds certain rights and privileges are available to us and are also unattainable. To say that every child born is on equal footing with the right to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to choose is a lie. We all have different ideas in different cultures, we have wars over who is right and who is wrong, to say that political correctness is not a form of racism we need to think again. The word "political" itself can be brought to question, it's origin in Greek means citizen of the city. There is no reference to who the citizen is or what kind of city it is. It is a white collar concept, constructed mainly by the western cultures.
It may keep derogatory and discriminate remarks to a minimum but it does not solve the ever present racists attitudes of the populace. To say that political correctness shows diversity and non-judgement of a particular individuals characteristics or background is the say that the world is still flat. Through education and exposure to other cultures, maybe then will be able to accept certain differences, but through cunningly veiled words and creating uproars over what you can say and can't is just sweeping the matter aside. No matter how we put it, if the situation dictates a discriminate remark, it's still a form of racism.
Political Correctness... I hate you.
